Welcome to "Blue Bella", San Diego's monthly Blues and Soul swing dance venue. We meet on the 1st AND 2nd Fridays of every month at "Ciao Bella Restaurant" in La Mesa. You will feel relaxed and cozy in the eclectic cafe, and our dancers are warm & friendly even if you are new. The mixed tempos and variety of music played at Blue Bella are ideal for dancers of all levels and types. So whether you're a beginner working on basics, a seasoned Lindy Hopper, or an experienced blues and soul enthusiast, the music will inspire and move you! We bring you the best and hippest DJs who "play to the floor", offering a wide range of musical styles and artists. We also present special workshops whenever possible of the best dancers in the country who teach blues, lindy, alternative tango or a combination.
Upcoming Dances on 1st & 2nd Fridays
February 5 & 12th!

Beginner/Intermediate class (depending on students) 9:00-9:30pm
DJed music 9:30pm to 12:30am Remember, ALL dance styles welcome, including Lindy hop, West coast swing, blues, alternative tango...as long as you are polite on the dance floor, we are happy to have you join us!

$5 dance
$3 class and dance (yes, that's on purpose, since we value learning & amazing blues dancers)

General Schedule
The 2nd Friday of every month from 9:00pm-12:00am (later if people are still dancing)
$5 Cover after 9:00pm for just the dance. $3.00 if you take the lesson
FREE dance class from 9:00-9:30 (taught by Elizabeth or guest instructors)
Blue Bella occurs on the first & second Friday of each month.
Music
Music is usually DJ'd with an occasional live artist including Nathan James trio, the Fremonts, & CJ Hutchins. Past DJ's include local San Diego favorite Mark Shtino (aka "Firemark"), Bonnie Horvitz, Carl Flores, Aaron VonderHaar, Jan Wilcox of SD Tango, Dan Parshall from Knoxville, Patrick Warren from Austin, and Matt Kelsey and Ken Cirimelli from LA. The CJ Hutchins band played for the 1-year anniversary in June, 2008. The Fremonts played for the 2-year anniversary in June, '09.
